Combilift donates 75,000th forklift to international aid organization

As part of Combilift's 25th anniversary celebrations, the Irish materials handling specialist is donating its 75,000th truck - an Aisle Master articulated forklift - to Convoy of Hope, a non-profit organization for humanitarian aid and disaster preparedness.

Convoy of Hope works with communities and its wide network of volunteers to alleviate poverty and hunger and bring help and hope to where it is needed most in the world. Unfortunately, as this type of aid is always in demand, the need for storage capacity has increased with operational expansion to accommodate the vast quantities of aid being stored and ready for delivery to areas in need.

The World Distribution Center is located in Springfield, Missouri, and from this location at the "crossroads of America," truckloads of relief supplies and food are sent on their way across the U.S. and around the world. Combilift provided the first Aisle Master for this location four years ago, and three more units were delivered last year.

Jeff Smethers, Senior Director - Distribution at Convoy of Hope: "Our exponential growth is due in large part to the Aisle Masters, as they allow us to move more loads in and out faster. And thanks to Combilift's free warehouse layout service and the narrow aisle capability of the Aisle Masters, we have achieved the best possible storage density and a very efficient operation."

The announcement was made at a gala dinner in Chicago during the ProMat show, and Martin McVicar, CEO and co-founder of Combilift, said: "The work of Convoy of Hope is invaluable in alleviating suffering around the world, and we wanted to make our own contribution by donating our 75,000th truck to this very worthwhile charity."

Erick Meier, Senior Vice President - Supply Chain at Convoy of Hope, said, "We are so grateful that Combilift and Martin and the whole team gave us this forklift. This will help people for years to come - making sure someone in the world gets help every day - and that brings hope."
