Major lithium-ion order for Linde Material Handling

Linde Material Handling is supplying BLG Logistics with several hundred industrial trucks, almost a third of which are pallet trucks. These will be equipped with energy-efficient lithium-ion batteries.

At its Bremen logistics center for automotive parts, BLG stocks various vehicle components such as sheet metal, side and small parts and ships them via Bremerhaven. High availability is required of the industrial trucks used in intensive shift operation, as entire production chains at car manufacturers depend on a reliable supply of parts.

No need to change the battery

Previously, not only were daily lead-acid battery changes necessary for the electrical appliances used, but a large battery pool also had to be kept on hand. Trips to the central exchange area cost valuable time - as did battery changes. With the new devices, regular intermediate charging of the lithium-ion batteries eliminates the need to change batteries. In addition, the energy yield is up to 30 percent better than that of lead-acid batteries. In future, there will also be decentralized chargers near the workstations.
