Sorting systems
Smooth sorting - efficient and scalable solutions
Sorting systems have become an integral part of distribution and distribution centers. Their diversity is just as great as the variety of goods to be transported. In addition to the core issues of high throughput and high availability, new challenges such as the shortage of skilled workers and rising energy costs are causing a rethink in the industry. SEW-Eurodrive focuses on these issues and offers solutions along the entire sorting system.
SEW-Eurodrive's technical solutions for sorting systems focus on the functional groups of communication, power transmission and drive technology. In addition to the technical hardware requirements, special attention is paid to the software, which shortens commissioning times and simplifies monitoring of the system.
Energy-optimized infeed and maintenance-friendly operation
The technical basis for this is the Movi-C automation system with the Movisuite engineering software. Starting with the range of solutions for the infeed, IE5 motors from the DR2C... or CM3C... series ensure energy-optimized infeed of the conveyed material. Along the main drive train, the SLC linear motor ensures low-noise and low-maintenance operation of the system. It can be operated with all standard inverters of the Movi-C automation module both in the control cabinet and close to the motor. Thanks to the proven and modern drive principle, the sword, which works with contact in the classic friction wheel drive, can be omitted. The sorter chain is moved smoothly by the feed of the magnets alone. In this proven drive concept, the EL3Z linear encoder on the SLC sorter main drive ensures precise position feedback of ±0.5 millimetres. In addition, an electronic nameplate in the Movilink DDI EL3Z linear encoder enables quick and easy commissioning, which in turn leads to lower installation costs and significantly reduces commissioning time.
Other functions such as monitoring the magnetic field for information about the overall system can also be implemented. Thanks to Movilink DDI single-cable technology, the coordinated system components now only require one digital interface. In addition, energy transmission and communication to the cross-belt modules are also covered without contact. The slotted waveguide technology, which has long been used successfully in electrified monorail systems, and the Movitrans inductive energy transmission system ensure smooth processes and reduce the burden on maintenance. The latest generation of low-voltage drives from SEW-Eurodrive, Movimot Performance ELV, drives the individual cross belts. Their high acceleration torques fully meet the dynamic requirements of sorting systems. The integrated solutions for sorting systems with the new generation from the SEW-Eurodrive product portfolio are flexible, easy to maintain and energy-saving.
