Virtual customer day
Dematic presents e-commerce and omni-channel solutions
The demands on intralogistics are particularly high in online retail. With this in mind, Dematic is organizing a virtual customer day on 19 November to present its e-commerce and omni-channel solutions, such as the Dematic bag sorting system. During a live online tour of the HABA Group B.V. & Co KG distribution center in Bad Rodach, participants will have the opportunity to see for themselves how the automation system works and the benefits it offers. In the warehouse, the pocket sorter supports the toy manufacturer in the fast and efficient processing of e-commerce orders and makes returns available again within a very short time. Participants will be given a customer-side insight into the project during a presentation by Torsten Kreußel, Head of Process Management, Production and Logistics at HABA Group B.V. & Co KG. Other best-practice applications and omni-channel solutions will also be presented.
"Many trade fairs and major events are being canceled or postponed due to coronavirus. This makes it all the more important to develop virtual opportunities to provide information and exchange ideas. That's why we are launching a virtual customer day series in which we present our innovative solutions in a special way," explains Jessica Heinz, Head of Marketing and Business Development Dematic Central Europe. At the first online event, a professional film crew will produce live images from the distribution center of HABA Group B.V. & Co. KG in Bad Rodach for the participants. A space-saving bag sorting system from Dematic is in use there. "This not only shortens the toy manufacturer's order processing, but also the access times for returned items. This makes them available for dispatch again within an hour."
The automated hanging system on roller adapters stores and sorts both hanging and flat-packed goods as well as flat-packed items and cartons in a single system. For transporting goods, the system uses pockets that are suspended from rollers to save space and run in an overhead rail. A wide variety of product shapes and sizes weighing up to three kilograms can be stored in the pockets. Articles are picked up and emptied automatically. This makes the system suitable for fully automated order processing for pure e-commerce and omni-channel retail. Thanks to its modular design and variable chain length, the technology also offers the advantage that it can be seamlessly integrated into existing systems. In this way, the pocket sorter can be compactly installed in almost any application environment. Potential expansions can be considered before installation so that the capacity of the system can be easily increased at a later date.
