Expansion in Friesach and Giebelstadt
SSI Schaefer invests
According to the company, the construction of new buildings at the existing sites in Giebelstadt and Friesach is a major milestone for intralogistics specialist SSI Schaefer. The highly sought-after Customer Service & Support sector in Graz has also moved into new premises, as the number of employees has more than doubled in a short space of time.
Harrie Swinkels, CEO of SSI Schaefer, explains where the intralogistics specialist is heading: "Through internal growth, partnerships and company acquisitions, we are constantly expanding our expertise in order to be able to flexibly offer the entire range of systems and technologies worldwide. Thanks to our wide range of services, we are 'product-neutral'; the focus is on developing the optimum solution for the customer and not on selling a specific product."
One consequence of the expansion strategy is the decision to expand the Giebelstadt and Friesach locations by investing in new, modern building complexes and the associated increase in employees: In Giebelstadt, SSI Schaefer's competence center for automated logistics solutions, the groundbreaking ceremony for a 5-story office building took place last September, which will offer space for 400 workplaces on an office area of almost 7,000 m² after its completion in 2020. An additional office complex is also being built at the Friesach site in Austria. After the opening, which is planned for November 2019, around 170 employees will move into the "IT powerhouse", which has been expanded by 1,000 m² (company information).
"Information on the activities at the headquarters in Neunkirchen/Siegerland and at SSI Schaefer's locations worldwide will be available soon," the company also writes.
