Mercedes-Benz Trucks integrates Fleetboard and buys habbl

Fleetboard is strengthening its market position with two steps: the integration into Mercedes-Benz Trucks and the acquisition of the habbl logistics application and the team behind it.

According to Fleetboard, in the digital age, software services are more than ever part of the core business of Daimler Trucks and Mercedes-Benz Trucks and are inextricably linked to vehicle development and customer support. For this reason, the former Daimler Fleetboard GmbH was integrated into the Daimler Trucks division Mercedes-Benz Trucks at the beginning of the year. The "Digital Services & Solutions" division is responsible for all Fleetboard and Mercedes-Benz Uptime offerings as part of Mercedes-Benz Trucks Marketing, Sales and Services.

"Fleetboard has been setting the industry standard since the market launch of telematics-based internet services in 2000. And we are working hard to ensure that it stays that way. With the "Digital Services & Solutions" division, we ensure that our customers receive the right solution for them from a single source. With habbl, we have a new, forward-looking product in our portfolio," says Stefan Buchner, Head of Mercedes-Benz Trucks. "We work every day to develop innovative solutions for transport and logistics companies and to further expand our existing products and services. Our focus is always on services with real added value for our customers when interacting with and using our vehicles."

In the eyes of Fleetboard, habbl is one of the most innovative logistics applications in the industry. The truck division of Daimler AG has reached an agreement with Eikona AG to acquire the logistics application, thereby optimizing the Fleetboard product portfolio. The software developed by Eikona AG makes it possible to easily integrate trucks from the company's own fleet as well as trucks from subcontractors into the scheduling process, provide order data and facilitate communication with drivers.

The flexible tool will replace the Fleetboard Transport Management solution in future. The acquisition will be completed shortly. "Thanks to new technical requirements, we are getting ever closer to our future vision of seamless and digitally networked transportation: we are networking all transport processes and everyone involved in transportation. This not only makes the business of our logistics customers more efficient, but also helps to optimize traffic flows, reduce traffic volumes and accelerate transport processes overall," says Volker Hansen, CEO and Head of Digital Solutions at Fleetboard. "habbl exactly fulfills our claim of continuously improving added value through networking for customers in transport and logistics. Especially against the backdrop of the ongoing shortage of skilled workers, it is particularly important to relieve drivers with an intuitive app and provide them with optimal support. habbl achieves this with workflows that control all work steps in a comprehensible way and help to avoid errors."

Fleetboard's new transport management service will complement Fleetboard's existing services, such as deployment analysis, time recording and mapping. The existing Fleetboard Transport Management solution will continue to be supported for a transition period of at least two years. Current Fleetboard customers will be supported and professionally advised by Fleetboard Consulting experts during the transition and integration of habbl to ensure a smooth transition.

In the combination of mobile app and online portal, and in combination with the telematics data from the vehicles, habbl offers comprehensive information on the entire supply chain and will present this in the new Fleetboard customer portal in future.

habbl becomes the newly founded Fleetboard Logistics GmbH

Following the completion of the acquisition, habbl and the team behind it will be the main component of the newly founded Fleetboard Logistics GmbH, a wholly-owned Daimler subsidiary headquartered in Volkach near Würzburg. The founder of Eikona AG, Manuel Drescher, will move to the newly created company as CEO. On the Daimler side, Harald Marx, Head of the Daimler Fleetboard Innovation Hub, will be responsible for the development and strategic direction of Fleetboard Logistics GmbH on an interim basis as the second Managing Director. The project was initiated and implemented under the leadership of the Daimler Fleetboard Innovation Hub in Berlin, which also developed the future Fleetboard Transport Management Strategy and is responsible for the corporate structure of Fleetboard Logistics GmbH.
