Martin Schrüfer,

Jungheinrich nominated for three IFOY Awards

Jungheinrich has been nominated for a total of three IFOY Awards in 2019. This makes Jungheinrich once again the company with the most nominations in the IFOY competition this year. The world's first reach truck with a permanently integrated lithium-ion battery ETV 216i, the STC 2B1A stacker crane for small parts and the zoneCONTROL assistance system were nominated.

Jungheinrich Board Member for Sales Christian Erlach explains: "Three nominations are further proof of Jungheinrich's innovative strength in intralogistics. We are a machine manufacturer, logistics system provider and software developer all in one. With our highly innovative and efficient logistics solutions, we maximize the benefits for our customers." The IFOY Awards 2019 will be presented on April 26 at the Hofburg in Vienna.

Nominated in the "Warehouse Truck" category: the ETV 216i reach truck

The ETV 216i is the world's first reach truck with a permanently installed lithium-ion battery as standard. In developing the truck, Jungheinrich has consistently exploited the advantages of space-saving and powerful battery technology. This has given the ETV 216i a revolutionary truck design. The latest generation reach truck has significantly improved ergonomics. The lithium-ion batteries, which are fully integrated into the vehicle, have a longer service life, are maintenance-free and perform better than conventional lead-acid batteries. This increases handling capacity and storage efficiency. Particularly short charging intervals enable 24/7 operation, in which the ETV 216i can store loads of up to 1,600 kg at a lifting height of up to 10.7 meters.

Nominated in the "AGV & Intralogistics Robot" category: The STC small parts stacker crane

The STC is Jungheinrich's first high-performance stacker crane for small parts developed in-house. With a travel speed of more than 6 meters per second, the STC is the most powerful miniload stacker crane in its class. In addition, it has energy buffers, so-called "SuperCaps", which are specially adapted to the driving behavior. They store the energy released during braking and feed it back into the drive system when accelerating. As a result, Jungheinrich has succeeded in reducing the energy requirement and, in particular, the connected load of the stacker crane by up to 25 percent compared to the competition.

Nominated in the category "Intralogistics Software": zoneCONTROL

Jungheinrich has set itself the goal of increasing the protection of people, machines, goods and warehouse equipment. The new zoneCONTROL increases safety at particularly critical points in the warehouse. The system consists of a radio module on the forklift truck and so-called radio anchors, which are installed at selected points in the warehouse.

A circular radio field is set up around such an anchor. Depending on the distance to this radio anchor, the radio module mounted on the vehicle triggers reactions such as braking the vehicle.

The expert jury is made up of 29 specialist journalists who work for logistics media from 19 countries.
