Logistics software

New intralogistics software in use at Porsche

With supply_it, the management and IT consultancy MHP is adding another product for intralogistics to its Industrial Cloud Solutions (ICS) portfolio. Following the introduction of FleetExecuter, which can be used to control Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) via a central fleet management solution, the addition is now being used to plan internal logistics processes more efficiently. The software-as-a-service solution was launched together with Porsche Consulting.

Michael Appel, Partner at MHP: "In order to meet the increasing demands in logistics and support our customers in remaining competitive, efficient processes are becoming more and more important. Smart solutions such as supply_it can help here and support employees, particularly in planning the optimal provision of materials in logistics."

Save up to 10 percent of in-house logistics costs

Manual processes and inflexible planning cycles are still frequently a challenge in intralogistics. At the same time, planning tasks are becoming more complex, especially when it comes to evaluating the possible positioning and process variants of components at the assembly site. In the automotive industry, for example, more than 2,000 components that are installed on an assembly line have to be taken into account in material flow planning. MHP has developed a solution together with Porsche Consulting to simplify this complex reality of intralogistics processes. It is designed to improve the planning and optimization of the material flow. Porsche Consulting provides the algorithm, MHP the software and concrete implementation.

Digital twin simplifies planning

At its core is a digital twin that maps the processes, taking costs and restrictions into account, from goods receipt to the assembly site. One of the functions of the new software is that it helps employees to save time when assessing the costs of the large number of components that need to be moved in intralogistics.

Specifically, with supply_it, a cost-optimized allocation of components can be carried out in less than ten minutes. Compared to conventional manual planning, which often takes several days, changes in intralogistics planning can also be made in just a few minutes.

A smart co-pilot for logistics planners

Alexander Santiago, Product Manager supply_it at MHP: "The application offers an intuitive user interface that makes it possible to visualize the costs of individual components and entire logistics processes transparently, quickly and easily. This not only saves planners time, it also means they always have an overview of costs and can save up to 10 percent of intralogistics costs."

The SaaS solution from the ICS portfolio is already in use in logistics planning at Porsche in Zuffenhausen and is to be expanded further. In combination with the FleetExecuter from MHP, additional potential can be exploited.
