Persons: Ralf Pfitzner becomes Head of Group Sustainability at Volkswagen

Wolfsburg, 29.12.2017 - The Volkswagen Group is implementing the further expansion of the Sustainability department. Ralf Pfitzner will become the new Head of Group Sustainability on January 1. In this role, he succeeds Dr. Gerhard Prätorius, who will focus on coordinating the Volkswagen Group's International Sustainability Council and implementing the projects proposed by this Sustainability Council from the start of the new year.

Pfitzner (49) studied environmental engineering at TU Berlin and ETH Zurich and has a management degree from Harvard Business School. He has experience in the areas of sustainability, climate protection and strategy. Most recently, as Vice President Sustainability at Siemens AG, he was responsible for the global program to achieveCO2 neutrality, among other things. Pfitzner and Prätorius will report in their functions to Dr. Thomas Steg, Chief Representative of Volkswagen AG and Head of External Relations and Sustainability. red
