Packaging trends
Interpack 2023
Around 2,700 companies from all over the world will be presenting cutting-edge technologies and packaging trends along the entire value chain of the processing and packaging industry in Düsseldorf from May 4 to 10, 2023
Interpack has been held every three years since 1960, most recently in 2017, when the coronavirus pandemic forced the trade fair for the packaging and process industries to take an unusually long break. From May 4, the 21st edition of the event will be back in Düsseldorf-Stockum. Around 2,700 exhibitors are expected until May 10, slightly fewer than in 2017, and all halls on the extensive grounds will be occupied.
Solutions for all aspects of packaging materials and packaging equipment can be seen in Halls 7 and 7a, 8a, 9 and 10. Here, visitors can view a good third of all exhibitors with all materials and end products for packaging. This cross-user range of packaging, packaging materials and packaging aids is in itself the largest packaging trade fair in the world. All packaging materials are represented here and there are particularly many innovations on the subject of sustainability and resource conservation, for example in the development of new materials, renewable raw materials or increasing the proportion of recyclate in packaging. Exhibitors in this area include Sappi Europe, Sonoco, Mayr Melnhof Packaging, Berry Global, Schütz GmbH, the S.I.T. Group and Seda International Packaging.
Labeling, marking, finishing
Inform, decorate, individualize - packaging is an information carrier. Exhibitors in Halls 8a and 8b will show how this can be implemented for different products and requirements. Here you will find machines for labeling and marking technology, for example from Bluhm Systeme, Langguth, Domino Printing Sciences, Videojet Technologies, Herma and Possehl. The range is supplemented by solutions in the field of packaging production and integrated packaging printing. Here you can visit companies such as Starlinger, Totani, Fujifilm Europe, the Brückner Group and HP Germany.
The trade fair will be complemented by a broad program of lectures and events. The "WorldStar Packaging Awards" 2023, which are presented by the World Packaging Organization, will also be taking part. The award is considered the most prestigious packaging prize in the world. A total of 228 award winners demonstrate the innovative strength of the industry. This year's edition is also characterized by new and exciting categories: Gift Packaging, Digital Packaging and the special category of Accessible Packaging. Around 400 participants are expected to attend the festive ceremony on May 6.
The "PackTheFuture Award" from the German IK Industrievereinigung Kunststoffverpackungen and its French partner ELIPSO will also be presented at interpack. The award recognizes innovative and sustainable plastic packaging solutions. The aim is to promote and publicize the contribution of plastic packaging to climate protection, the circular economy and responsible consumption. Prizes are awarded for the best designs for recycling, sustainable material procurement or consumer benefits, among other things.
