Please no fake news at LogiMAT!

Anticipation is the greatest joy. We are currently looking forward to LogiMAT. To great stands, useful information, innovations, discussion partners, suppliers, networks - and to going home smarter, or at least not dumber.

Only one person can turn this anticipation into real joy: the exhibitor. That's why I have a request: Exhibit something too! Show what you've got! A forklift animation with ballyhoo, show girls and bockwurst is great, congratulations that you can do that! But it's no use to me. I want to sit on the truck, not look at a monitor, even if it's a 4K. OK, if you're building high-bay warehouses, that's hard, I admit. And if you're making software, I also like to look at terminals, because that also fits to some extent.

A second request: If you don't have anything new, that's not a bad thing! I'll visit you anyway because you have solutions that I can use, because I want to get to know you, talk to you, maybe even work with you. But please don't take the piss. Don't stick "NEW!" signs on stuff I've already seen in the past year! I can tell! That's real fake news, so to speak. And while we're at it: If a driverless transportation system drives from A to B without a driver, i.e. automatically, that's far from Industry 4.0, it's old hat with cold coffee. Perhaps the technology is new or the AGV is new, perhaps it now transports containers instead of pallets, perhaps they now communicate with each other and don't stubbornly follow an induction loop, all good. But is that always the same as Industry 4.0? Or digitization? Or simply progress?

Finally, a request to Messe Stuttgart: Don't build any more halls! My socks are already burning just thinking about having to go to the new Hall 10 this year. But secretly I'm really looking forward to it! (published in: materialfluss 3/18 from 07.03.2018)
