I'm writing you a letter because I have an idea. You have now taken over the project management of Logimat, which is going really well. But! Nothing is so good that it can't be done better, as some smart aleck once said. So maybe we'll look together to see if we can't find something that will make people say: "Wow, it's good that Ruchty Michael is finally at the start!

For the exhibitors, there is the space situation. Most of them would like to have a larger stand to be able to offer their visitors something adequate. There is the set-up situation. Unsatisfactory would still be bragging. The time is far too short - and if there are one or two extra days, they have to dig deep into their pockets. Because everyone has to be in a hurry, there are congested truck access roads with enormous waiting times - you know what I mean? There is the dismantling situation. Because the elevators are shut down exactly at the last minute of the trade fair, exhibitors in pumps, leather chairs and fine threads are allowed to carry boxes of trade fair goods up and down the stairs together with the handcarts provided for this purpose. Why the same elevators work during set-up remains a mystery.

For exhibitors and visitors, that would be the trade fair date. It feels like it's either right after New Year's Eve or during the carnival vacations. Neither of which is ideal. Then there's the traffic situation in Stuttgart. Yes, admittedly, it is an ingenious way to get to the trade fair by plane. But not for everyone, because not everyone is traveling from Australia, and some are coming from Augsburg. Most visitors are stuck on congested access roads or are happy when the S-Bahn runs four times an hour.

"Logimat is good. Very good. It could be made even better."

At this point, your predecessor would have slyly taken his index finger out of his pocket and pointed it at his landlord, Messe Stuttgart: The exhibition center is too small, they won't give us another date, they won't give us more time, they won't open all the gates and shut down the elevators. Then the buck stops with the other party. You can do it that way. But there's an even better way: the idea would be to stand up vehemently for your customers and negotiate with the trade fair center landlord.

Another solution comes to mind: Why doesn't Logimat actually move? To Munich, for example? 80,000 square meters more hall space than in Stuttgart, a huge outdoor area - highly attractive for various exhibitors in post-CeMAT times, already close to intralogistics thanks to the Automatica and Transport trade fairs, battle-tested thanks to mega trade fairs such as Bauma, and a strong economic environment. The set-up and dismantling logistics are certainly better. And the traffic situation is no worse.

But I'm sure you've already thought about that yourself. Right, Mr. Ruchty?

Asks with a wink
