Strategic partnership
Noerpel Group and Johann Weiss strengthen cooperation
The Noerpel Group, headquartered in Ulm, is acquiring a stake in the Austrian logistics company Johann Weiss, headquartered in Wiener Neudorf, with retroactive effect from January 1, 2024 - subject to antitrust approval.
The Noerpel Group strengthens its market position in the D-A-CH region with the acquisition of the shares. At the same time, Johann Weiss secures network access to other European countries. Johann Weiss, headquartered in Wiener Neudorf in the south of Vienna, was founded in 1955. Today, the family business employs around 140 people at eight locations.
In almost seventy years of company history, Johann Weiss has continuously developed and grown together with its customers. In addition to its forwarding activities, the company operates a warehouse area of around 10,000 square metres in the greater Vienna area and specializes in special services for the assembly and dismantling of special equipment in the consumer and beverage sector.
Win-win situation for both partners
The company is now setting the course for a successful future: "For a long time, we have been looking for a strategic partner for our family business that would guarantee us nationwide access to other European countries, especially Germany," explains managing partner Michael Weiss. In return, securing the distribution of all shipments to Austria is of great importance to the Noerpel Group: "With our investment in Johann Weiss, we are connected to the company's system network and have thus secured an optimal, high-quality network solution for Austria," says Lucas Noerpel-Schneider, CEO of the Noerpel Group. Michael Weiss and his son Lucas Weiss will remain the sole managing directors of the company, which will continue to operate under the name Johann Weiss GmbH.
"With the new co-partner Noerpel, we will make a huge leap in turnover in the international forwarding business," summarizes Managing Director Lucas Weiss, who is already looking forward to the new opportunities of the joint company. Lucas Noerpel-Schneider is also certain: "We will have a good development - also because both families have known each other for a long time and are looking forward to the joint business development positively."
