Solar mobile on its way to Australia
As an official logistics partner, Gebrüder Weiss is supporting ETH Zurich on its way to the World Solar Challenge 2023 in Australia.
The international logistics company Gebrüder Weiss is taking over the transportation of an innovative solar car to Australia for the aCentauri Solar Racing Team of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH). The World Solar Challenge will begin there at the end of October 2023. In this unique race, 31 teams will cover the 3,000-kilometer route from Darwin across the Australian outback to Adelaide using solar power alone.
To ensure that the high-tech vehicle can be launched on time on the other side of the world, Gebrüder Weiss provides a customized logistics mix of land transport as well as sea and air freight. "As a global logistics company, we are drivers of intelligent transport solutions and are actively shaping the mobility of tomorrow," says Frank Haas, Head of Corporate Brand Strategy & Communications at Gebrüder Weiss. "aCentauri's solar car is forward-looking and can revolutionize the transport sector. That's why we are supporting the team on its journey to Australia."
The students have been working on the development and implementation of this solar car for almost a year. Designed for longevity and maximum energy efficiency, it is a symbol of the vision of an environmentally friendly future. "Winning the race is one thing. Our aim is also to actively participate in the development of efficient and ecological solutions," explains Alexandr Ebnöther, Team Manager, aCentauri "With the support of Gebrüder Weiss, we can prove that solar-powered cars and therefore sustainable mobility are possible."
Alternative drives are very popular at Gebrüder Weiss. The solar car from aCentauri, for example, covers the first stage of transportation with the emission-free hydrogen truck.
