CCL Faubel shows applications of smart labels

Paper labels can only represent one status of a container or storage bin. Every change in status requires a new label. CCL Faubel will be demonstrating at Logimat 2024 how this time-consuming process of manual replacement can be replaced.

"The e-paper display of a smart label is changeable. It can therefore display up-to-date information in full at any time," explains Sven Rath, Business Development Manager at CCL Faubel. An RFID tag controls the e-paper display, which is why the volume of data stored can be many times higher than that of a paper label with a one-dimensional barcode or a two-dimensional barcode such as a QR and Data Matrix code.

Smart Labels from CCL Faubel are battery-free, which has one main advantage: Regular maintenance is not necessary. The label is therefore durable and robust thanks to the sturdy plastic housing. The housing and its attachment can be adapted depending on the application. The smart label is usually screwed or pushed in. The size of the display can also vary. Digital labeling creates maximum flexibility for warehousing - customers do not need to provide routers or other additional IT infrastructure. They can read and change the data on the smart label using stationary and mobile readers. A cloud app makes the software available at all times. Automated interfaces and functions for direct printing can also be implemented.
