In June 2020, Sebastian Mauerer, intralogistics specialist in the Beutlhauser intralogistics department, received a request to replace two existing narrow-aisle trucks from a competitor with new narrow-aisle trucks from Linde Material Handling. The vehicles will be used in the finished goods warehouse at the Linhardt Group's headquarters in Lower Bavaria.

Reference visit to TransRegina

As the nearby company TransRegina from Neunburg vorm Wald is already equipped with such a narrow-aisle truck, it was suitable for a reference visit. Volker Rankl, Head of Logistics at Linhardt, and Michael Eiser, Linhardt forklift driver, were able to get a comprehensive and practical impression of the proposed Linde forklift trucks on site.

Another component mentioned in the requirements was warehouse navigation. Via an integrated interface to Linhardt's internal software, the forklift receives movement orders, on the basis of which the vehicle moves to the desired target position as quickly as possible. The interface was tested virtually in several meetings and adapted to customer requirements. In close consultation with the factory, the details of the interfaces were defined and the implementation of the desired drive commands was coordinated.

Delivery with the help of a truck-mounted crane

The two vehicles, which have an overall height of 6,900 mm, were delivered and set up in December 2020 with the help of a truck-mounted crane. The Beutlhauser service technicians adjusted the vehicles to the existing warehouse. With the help of an aisle safety assistant, the driving and lifting speeds of the devices were adapted to the respective warehouse aisles.

The warehouse navigation system was also successfully implemented and tested in close cooperation with Linde Material Handling, Beutlhauser and Linhardt's IT department.
