Conveyor system
ZPC concept for pharmaceutical distributors
The pharmaceutical company Hanmi Pharmaceutical relies on a ZPC conveyor technology concept from Avancon in Paltan, South Korea.
Hanmi operates B2B trade with e-commerce to drugstores, pharmacies and wholesalers. In Paltan, the subsidiary Online-Pharm processes more than 10,000 orders during a peak day. As the existing picking systems were already over 10 years old and demand was increasing significantly, the company decided to modernize them. According to the company, the new conveyor systems have increased the speed of the existing installation by 17%.
Smcore acted as the system integrator and installed new shelving and the pick-to-light system. For the picking zones, the company proposed a conveyor system from Avacon. According to the company, the Avacon ZPC system (Zone Powered Conveyor) offers more dynamic buffer space thanks to its ZPC function. The solution also includes a looping system. If an order picking zone is full, the next box automatically enters a loop and attempts to re-enter later. The boxes are transferred in and out by OTUs (Omnidirectional Transfer Units).
The modules are pre-assembled, programmed and tested before dispatch. In accordance with the system's "plug-in concept", the installation is automatically connected mechanically and electrically.
