Goods distribution for e-commerce
The Swiss company Ferag AG is supplementing the pocket sorters from the Skyfall family, which were introduced three years ago, with self-developed stations for fully automatic loading and unloading. Both extensions increase the efficiency of the SkySorters, which are equipped with pockets and mainly used in goods distribution and order fulfillment. For both loading and unloading, the new Ferag solution achieves an industry record of 2,000 bags per hour. The two innovations are aimed at online retailers and multi-channel operators whose product range does not exceed ten kilograms in weight. In addition to textiles and fashion accessories, the systems integrated into the Skyfall technology can be used to mechanically handle food and luxury goods as well as lightweight household items: The items slide into the pockets by themselves and gently slide out again at the end of the conveying and sorting process.
