Traffic figures week 14

Martin Schrüfer,

Cargo down 25 percent at Frankfurt Airport

Corona crisis made visible in figures: Passenger numbers at Frankfurt Airport fell by 95 percent in week 13 compared to the same period last year, cargo by 25 percent. Aircraft movements fell by over 85 percent.

From this week, passenger handling will be concentrated in Terminal 1 (Halls B and C) and Terminal 2 will no longer be used for passenger handling until further notice; the Terminal 2 parking garage is also temporarily closed. Although an increase of more than 20 percent was recorded for cargo flights compared to the same period last year, this only partially compensates for the loss of additional cargo on passenger flights. One man's sorrow is another man's joy: the airport reports that the partial renovation of the southern runway began on schedule on April 6.

CW 13/2020 week Δ %*

Passengers 66,151 -95.2%

Cargo (freight & mail in tons) 32,904 -25.0%

Aircraft movements 1,545 -85.1%
