TORsten nominated again for Best of Industry Award
The modular driverless transport system TORsten has once again been nominated for the Best of Industry Award. This time, Torwegge is presenting the system as the Manipula-TORsten mobile manipulator.
This is the second time that Torwegge has had the chance to take home the prize awarded by MM Maschinenmarkt. Two years ago it already succeeded. Whether the solution can hold its own against the competition in the "Material Flow" category will be announced on June 25.
"Being among the nominees for the Best of Industry Award makes us very proud. Only innovations that represent a decisive value-adding factor for the industry make it onto the shortlist," says Uwe Eschment, Managing Director of Torwegge. Only industrial products that have already won an award in the past year are nominated.
From AGV to mobile manipulator
Torwegge is represented in the competition with the further development of the AGV TORsten into the mobile manipulator Manipula-TORsten. The basic vehicle has been equipped with a PILZ gripper arm. This allows the system to be used as a mobile picking robot and represents a significant step forward on the way to fully automating intralogistics processes. Torwegge has taken account of the increased energy requirements compared to standard AGVs by integrating an inductive charging system. The option of station-independent energy supply ensures a long operating time. In addition to the operating time, the inductive charging system increases the operating radius of the mobile manipulator.
"With this version of TORsten, we are demonstrating the advantages of the modularity of our product: flexibility and scalability," says Eschment. Manipula-TORsten is just one version of the AGV for many conceivable applications. For example, it can be connected to existing material flow systems and/or used in mobile robotics. For example, conveyor technology components such as roller or belt conveyors can also be linked to TORsten instead of or in addition to the gripper arm.
