The order value is in the double-digit millions. The Weidmüller Group has production facilities, sales companies and agencies in more than 80 countries. Together with its customers, it is shaping the digital transformation - with products, solutions and services for smart industrial connectivity and the Industrial Internet of Things. In the 2019 financial year, Weidmüller achieved a turnover of 830 million euros with around 5,000 employees.

Maximilian Dolch, Project Manager at Weidmüller, explains why the company chose the intralogistics manufacturer from Sinsheim: "With the 'Next Generation Logistics' project, we are planning the construction of a new global distribution center that meets the high requirements and needs of our customers and markets in the best possible way. We are particularly dependent on reliable and efficient logistics. Gebhardt impressed us in the tendering process with its technological focus and solution expertise, as well as on a personal level. Both Gebhardt and Weidmüller are family businesses that share similar values and therefore harmonize very well and complement each other ideally."

The majority of the 70,000 items in the existing product portfolio will be handled and shipped worldwide via the new logistics center in the future. The range includes small parts such as terminal blocks and connectors as well as larger items such as printers. The Gebhardt solution therefore includes a high-performance tote shuttle warehouse with Gebhardt StoreBiter one-level shuttles, a pallet warehouse operated by several Cheetah heavy storage and retrieval machines, various manual and automatic picking workstations, a manual long goods warehouse, a high-tech shipping area with fully automatic palletizing for forwarding and CEP shipping using Gebhardt ConBoom telescopic belt conveyors. The system is controlled and managed by SAP MFS/EWM, which was implemented by IGZ Ingenieurgesellschaft für logistische Informationssysteme mbH and integrated with a connection to the downstream control system. In the interests of maximum availability and partnership, Weidmüller and Gebhardt have agreed a full-service offer that goes beyond the creation of the new system.

"We are delighted that Weidmüller has awarded us the contract for the new logistics center and we are confident that the intralogistics solution we have developed in recent weeks will meet all individual requirements as well as the idea itself. The new building in Eisenach will support Weidmüller's growth on the basis of all Gebhardt technologies - in line with the guiding principle: Next Generation," says Fritz Gebhardt, Managing Director of the Gebhardt Intralogistics Group, describing the new partnership.
