LBS celebrates its 70th anniversary

When it comes to transport infrastructure financing, Doll speaks clearly: "We have always been prepared to contribute our share to user financing. Hence our clear vote in favor of the truck toll. However, this vote was always based on the premise that it should ultimately be extended to all road users on a polluter-pays basis.

In his speech, Doll also emphasized the importance of each individual mode of transport, as well-networked transport chains are essential today. In order to be able to cope with the forecast growth rates in transport, all modes of transport need to be used. With regard to rail freight transport, Doll reaffirmed the industry's willingness to make greater use of this mode of transport, provided that quality, reliability and punctuality are right and the desired capacities are provided. With regard to inland waterway transport, the President drew attention to the precarious situation on the Danube. In recent months, this important international waterway was not fully navigable for eight weeks due to ice, high and low water. "I am taking this opportunity to once again call for the long-term expansion of the Danube in variant C 280," he explained.

Regarding the third runway, Doll lamented the current situation. "We need a clear decision from the state government on the one hand and corresponding negotiations with the state capital of Munich on the other," said the LBS President. The increasing shortage of skilled workers was also particularly important to Doll. "The qualification of our logistics specialists, drivers, dispatchers and managers is important and must be carried out systematically so that the "freight forwarding/logistics" job becomes more attractive." In Doll's view, this also includes a modern collective agreement for freight forwarding and logistics companies, which was only successfully concluded again for the industry by the LBS at the end of 2016.
