With the help of Kardex AutoStore, the production site in Eurasburg is to be positioned as the central lead plant in the global production footprint. To this end, the plant's extensive digitalization and automation potential is being exploited.

EagleBurgmann, part of the German Freudenberg Group and the Japanese EKK Group, is one of the leading suppliers in the field of industrial sealing technology. With around 5,800 employees, the company offers its customers a wide range of innovative sealing solutions that help entire branches of industry to work more sustainably and greener.

The production site in Eurasburg is facing significant changes. The historically evolved building structures and the fragmented logistics across various buildings and floors are to be transformed. Building 86 in particular is to be optimized in terms of incoming and outgoing goods and central warehousing. A "brownfield solution" will be used for the modernization of existing buildings.

"The implementation of the AutoStore solution is a decisive step towards modernizing our logistics processes and being able to fully exploit our future growth potential," emphasizes Walter Fischer, Operations Director at EagleBurgmann.

High-density storage for optimized logistics processes

The aim of implementing the new automated warehouse is to centralize logistics with maximum consolidation and storage capacity. By consolidating small, decentralized storage areas at the site, valuable production space is gained. The new AutoStore solution offers space for around 19,800 containers and is operated by 24 state-of-the-art Red Line (R5) robots. Raw parts, semi-finished parts for production supply and spare parts are stored in the AutoStore, which will significantly improve the workflow.

The project in Eurasburg not only includes the AutoStore system. As part of the project, the existing conveyor technology will also be converted and integrated into a new control concept. With an annual service contract, Kardex also guarantees maximum availability and long-term support over the entire life cycle of the system.

For EagleBurgmann, the seamless integration of the AutoStore warehouse and the associated processes into the customer's existing SAP WM was decisive for the cooperation with Kardex. The software solution was implemented together with the partner StatusC. However, technical expertise alone was not the only decisive element. "We were deeply impressed by the 'Kardex way'," explains Mr. Fischer. "From the very first moment, I felt that EagleBurgmann and Kardex were on the same wavelength. It was important for us to have a partner at our side not only during the sales phase, but also during implementation, who would guide us safely through the process," Walter Fischer continues to emphasize. Falko Menz, Operations Manager at EagleBurgmann, adds: "I look forward to the AutoStore going into operation and my logistics team being able to work with the Kardex AutoStore team."
