Handy and smart: New ident sensor with USB interface
With the BVS Ident-Sensor USB, Balluff is expanding its portfolio with a small and cost-effective variant. The code reader transfers content to the IT system quickly and easily, tracks goods in the logistics system - and is an intelligent alternative to a handheld reader for manual processes.
Capture, analyze and verify barcodes and 2D codes - and expand traditional data transmission as an IT interface: With its BVS Ident sensor, Balluff has been offering a stationary and user-friendly code reader with high reading quality and robustness since 2022. The sensor and automation specialist is now expanding its portfolio with the BVS IdentSensor with USB connection.
As a much more compact and cost-effective version, it is not only suitable for use in automated industry, such as on certain conveyor systems in logistics applications, but also for manual processes - a handy, smart alternative to the handheld reader. The USB interface, which enables data transmission and power supply via a cable, also guarantees uncomplicated integration.
Intuitive handling, simple installation
"The sensor quickly and easily identifies optical code content, transmits it to the corresponding IT system via a USB interface - and internally recognizes and tracks goods and components in the logistics system," says Rainer Schönhaar, Product Manager Smart Vision at Balluff. Incoming goods in the ERP system can thus be easily recorded. This guarantees reliable traceability.
"With this extension, we are offering our customers an uncomplicated solution in the lower price segment of the existing portfolio," says Schönhaar. Thanks to the standard USB interface, the sensor does not require an external power supply. It also impresses with direct plug-and-play, intuitive handling and simple installation with alignment aid and acoustic reading confirmation. Users also benefit from convenient product configuration by scanning 2D programming codes, which can be easily generated using an online configurator.
Use in automotive logistics
The BVS IdentSensor USB is used for track-and-trace applications in intralogistics and industrial automation. "Our sensor plays a particularly important role in automotive production, for example in car body construction or when dealing with module and system suppliers," says Schönhaar, "our sensor makes it possible to record the goods in addition to the process world in the IT world - and to connect both worlds with each other."
