Conductor rail system
Easy to implement and secure
Conductix-Wampfler, a manufacturer of energy and data transmission systems for mobile machines and systems, is presenting two solutions, Xline and Xpair, which the company says will redefine the standards in terms of performance, safety and efficiency for the installation, operation and maintenance of overhead cranes.
The next-generation Xline closed conductor rail system is a new variant of box conductor rails in accordance with international norms and standards. According to Conductix-Wampfler, the focus during development was on simple design and product selection as well as fast and safe installation. All system components such as ready-to-install rails, rail holders and conductor rail connectors are packaged as track modules for 4, 12 or 24 meters. All disposable parts such as end cap, end feed with plug-in latching connection, current collector with redundant PE contact and small parts are included in a basic module.
The delivery of all components in marked packaging units prevents unnecessary handling, searching for parts and set-up and pre-assembly work. Conductix-Wampfler has marked the packaging with colored symbols, which enables quick identification even from a distance. According to the manufacturer, the special X arrangement of the sliding contacts ensures optimum contact quality and guidance of the current collector trolley and is also said to impress with its stability and rigidity.
Focus on safety
Xpair is a modern radio remote control system that has been specially developed for the safe operation of standard overhead cranes. "The safety of the operating personnel is a concern that we are continuously working on," says Pete Kirst, Global Market Manager Overhead Cranes at Conductix-Wampfler. The main crane movements can be controlled at two speeds using six two-stage pushbuttons of PLc category 2 in accordance with EN ISO 13849-1 and -2. A safety stop is provided in accordance with performance level PLd category 3 to EN ISO 13849-1 and -2. Thanks to the excellent feel of the buttons, precise control is also possible when wearing gloves.
The battery, which runs for over 40 hours, can be replaced. This saves time and also allows operation during charging. Whether neck, wrist, shoulder or torso straps - thanks to the two attachment points for carrying straps, operators are free to choose where and how they want to carry the radio transmitter. A rubber edge protector to protect the transmitter from knocks and a silicone protective cover for use in dirty environments round off the range. The radio receiver is equipped with an integrated horn for acoustic signals and is supplied with a pre-wired connection cable. It can be attached to the crane either magnetically using the set of magnetic bolts supplied or by drilling holes. Pairing a transmitter is intuitive and can be done without access to the receiver, so it is not necessary to climb onto the crane.
