Farewell to a colleague
The industry mourns the loss of Torsten Buchholz
On December 27, 2021, the former editor-in-chief of the trade magazines "Transport" and "materialfluss", Torsten Buchholz, passed away after a serious illness.
For more than 25 years, Torsten Buchholz dealt with the topics of transport optimization, drive technology, trade and transport policy as well as environmental protection and road safety. In him, the commercial vehicle and logistics industry has lost a well-connected and committed advocate and a great expert on the subject.
Among other things, Torsten Buchholz was a co-initiator and jury member of the "European Transport Prize for Sustainability", which has been awarded to companies in the commercial vehicle industry for the following year since 2011 and, since 2013, as a special prize to medium-sized freight forwarders and CEP services for their ecological, economic and social commitment.
After working as a journalist for radio as well as general interest and daily newspapers, the commercial vehicle and logistics expert was employed by HUSS-Verlag as editor of the trade magazine "EuroCargo" (now "Logistra"). This was followed by positions as editor-in-chief of the trade journal "materialfluss" (mi verlag, now WEKA BUSINESS MEDIEN) and as editor of the trade publications "Logistik inside" and "Verkehrsrundschau", until he returned to his old place of work in spring 2006. As editor-in-chief, he was the face and head of the newspaper "Transport" for 15 years.
"As a collegial friend and highly esteemed colleague, he was highly respected throughout the workforce with his calm manner. The well-read and enthusiastic lover of literature and music was always a competent advisor to everyone. The eloquent professional writer led his editorial team fairly and emphatically. The well-being of his employees was very important to him," Huss-Verlag reported in a press release.
"With Torsten Buchholz, we are losing a highly esteemed journalist who loved his work and enriched our publishing house with his knowledge and skills for many years," said Christoph Huss, publisher and managing partner of the HUSS Publishing Group.
