Hermes Prize for Michael ten Hompel
The Federal Minister of Transport and Digital Infrastructure Andreas Scheuer honored Prof. Dr. Dr. h. c. Michael ten Hompel, Managing Director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics IML, with the "Hermes Verkehrs.Logistik.Preis 2019" at the "Gala Evening of European Logistics" in the Vienna Hofburg. More than 600 invited guests from 20 nations from business, politics and science attended the gala evening of the Austrian mobility industry. Ten Hompel received the prize in the category "International Honorary Award for Outstanding Achievement".
The "Hermes.Verkehrs.Logistik.Preis" is an award in Austria. The Hermes-Stab, the symbol for business and traffic, is regarded as a seal of quality in the Austrian transport, traffic and logistics industry. The Austrian Federal Economic Chamber's Transport and Traffic Division awards prizes in the categories of education, sustainability, safety, supply chain management and best SME (small and medium-sized enterprises) to companies that are committed to employee training and development, sustainability, environmentally friendly and energy-saving measures and workplace safety in their companies. The "Hermes Prize Entrepreneur" is awarded to a personality for their life's work. For the first time, the "Hermes Prize International" was also awarded for outstanding achievements in international logistics.
