The Lower Saxony Ministry of Economic Affairs and Logistikportal Niedersachsen e.V. (LPN e.V.) have agreed a joint "Pact for Logistics". The aim of the project is to raise the profile and positioning of Lower Saxony as a logistics location, the logistics regions and the logistics industry in Lower Saxony.

At the meeting with LPN e.V. board members in Hanover, Economics Minister Dr. Bernd Althusmann emphasized the importance of logistics in Lower Saxony as an economic and employment driver: "Lower Saxony has established itself as a leading logistics location in Germany and Europe, not only due to its favorable location, but in particular thanks to its logistics expertise."

As part of the "Pact for Logistics", application-oriented project ideas for innovative logistics processes are developed, primarily in the areas of Smart & Digital and Green & Infrastructure, and implemented together with the logistics industry in Lower Saxony.

Minister Dr. Althusmann highlighted the increasing shortage of skilled workers in the industry as a key issue. The recruitment, training and retention of suitable personnel is and remains one of the greatest challenges facing companies. There will be joint projects with the logistics portal for this purpose. The participants also agreed to support the digital transformation process for logistics. To this end, the logistics portal presented some interesting project ideas that are to be jointly implemented as part of the "Pact for Logistics".

Another goal is to find solutions for how Lower Saxony can benefit from the latest developments, such as the MegaHub Lehrte or the "New Silk Road" as a logistics state. The Chairman of the Logistics Portal, Mr. Mathias Krage, welcomed the joint action between the state and industry to make the logistics location fit for the future. He emphasized the need to go to the individual regions or companies in an extensive state like Lower Saxony in order to involve them and win them over to the cause.

Further information on the "Pact for Logistics" with its projects and activities as well as the opportunities for participation can be obtained from the office of Logistikportal Niedersachsen e.V.
