Vanderlande then plans to integrate the results into its existing product portfolio, such as the company's Smart Item Robotics (SIR) solution. This was developed to efficiently handle the wide variety of items processed in the warehousing, parcel and airport markets. As a spin-off from the University of Delft in the Netherlands, Fizyr researches and develops ready-to-use deep learning image processing software. This should enable robots to process a wide range of items with increased flexibility and improved handling. "The use of robotics in the logistics industry is extremely complex due to the variety of goods processed, for example in terms of shape, size, color and material," explains Fizyr CEO Herbert ten Have. "With the help of software that uses deep learning technology, we can identify the best gripping points for a robot so that it can cope with a high degree of variation."
