AutoStore is a new partner in the "Solution Box" at the DHL Innovation Center in Troisdorf and, together with the world's leading logistics group, is showcasing an integrated storage and picking solution for retailers. With this smart solution, retailers can take their logistics processes to a new level and create completely new shopping experiences for their customers at the same time. The application example implemented together with DHL includes an online store for merchandise items from which visitors to the innovation center can select and order products and pick them themselves.

The core of the solution is an extremely compact demo system of the AutoStore system with 250 bins, which are operated by two R5 robots, and a workstation. Here, visitors can follow live how the bins containing the items selected in the store with a click are retrieved fully automatically by robots and transported to the CarouselPort. After removal and subsequent confirmation on the monitor, the bin is put back into storage. Together with the hardware and the controller for the system, AutoStore also supplied and implemented its own warehouse management solution (WMS) for the first time.

In the latest trend report on the "Future of work in logistics", DHL estimates that around 52% of manual tasks will be performed by machines by 2025. AutoStore's compact cube storage solution with goods for personal picking enables optimal use of space and high employee productivity. The DHL Innovation Center is visited by around 13,000 guests a year as part of tours, customer workshops and events. The AutoStore solution will remain part of the exhibition for around two years.
