Prologis celebrates topping-out ceremony in Berlin Tegel
On May 16, Prologis celebrated the topping-out ceremony for its logistics property in Berlin Tegel. Representatives from business and politics attended the event.
The logistics property will comprise around 8,500 square meters of logistics and office space, which can be divided into two units. Prologis acquired the property on Wittestrasse in 2021. It was a brownfield site previously occupied by an iron foundry, which the previous owner had demolished.
Photovoltaics, heat pump and e-charging stations
The property is based on the BEG 40 guidelines for energy-efficient buildings and is designed as an "all-electric building". No fossil fuels are used for the energy supply. The building is supplied with electricity via a photovoltaic system on the roof and heated by an air-heat pump. In addition, Prologis will equip all parking spaces with electric charging stations, including two fast-charging stations for trucks. The green façade of the property will not only increase biodiversity, but also promote the well-being of the tenants.
"I am delighted that our project in Berlin Tegel is taking shape and that we are now making the space usable again," says Philipp Feige, Vice President, Head of Capital Deployment at Prologis. "Following our entry into the Berlin market with the acquisition of a real estate portfolio in 2021, this is our first self-developed logistics facility in the capital." As part of the topping-out ceremony, Prologis donated 10,000 euros to Hospiz- und Palliativhilfe Katharinenhaus Reinickendorf e.V.
The location of the property in Berlin Tegel offers optimal access to the Berlin ring road thanks to its proximity to the 111 freeway. Future employees will also benefit from the proximity to the Eichborndamm S-Bahn station, which is just one kilometer away.
