Logistics center: Puma builds ultra-modern facility in Geiselwind
The construction of a state-of-the-art multi-channel central warehouse in Geiselwind has begun for the sports company Puma. Miebach Consulting supported Puma in the tendering, awarding and concept review through simulation and is now accompanying the implementation phase as sub-project manager for intralogistics. The new warehouse is scheduled to go into operation at the end of 2020.
The European distribution center is part of Puma's logistics modernization strategy and supports the company's medium-term goal of achieving sales growth of 10% per year by 2021/22. Maximilian Molkenthin Senior Head of Logistics, Puma says: "The new logistics center ensures our excellent multi-channel capability and high delivery speed. From end customer orders with the smallest order item to extensive wholesale orders in the B2B sector, we can respond to our customers' wishes as quickly as possible."
Michael Greschke, Market Segment Manager Fashion & Lifestyle, Miebach Consulting GmbH, adds: "E-commerce is a growth market. The straightforward logistics concept with a high-performance shuttle warehouse and goods-to-person picking is the ideal prerequisite for growth in this business segment too. Fast throughput times will ensure high efficiency across all channels. Innovative goods-to-person picking workstations, a fully automated 24-aisle shuttle system and 21 kilometers of energy-efficient conveyor technology are the planned core elements of the technical solution for distributing 122,000 sporting goods to private and business customers.
