Solution for the last mile
The self-driving electric vehicle for deliveries in urban areas was developed and manufactured entirely in Italy. "With its rounded design, Yape is extremely friendly and appealing. It is the perfect solution for the last mile," wrote the jury in its statement. The vehicle is an exceptional alternative to the delivery of goods by drones. The delivery robot is suitable for both sidewalks and cycle paths and can travel up to 80 kilometers on a single charge. Yape travels on two wheels, which are equipped with autonomous electric motors. The robot can perform standing turns and easily overcome obstacles such as kerbs or streetcar tracks.

Recipient can be determined via GPS
The YAPE system is based on a platform that allows the robot to be ordered to your home via an app, for example. A parcel weighing up to 70 kilograms can be stored in a compartment and then the robot can be sent to the recipient. The address can also be determined automatically from the recipient's GPS position. Sending and delivery are certified by a system that combines the sender's and recipient's smartphone credentials with facial recognition.

This also ensures that the parcel reaches the right recipient. The parcel compartment can only be opened by people who are authorized by the platform. To do this, the system combines the login information in the smartphone of the sender and recipient with facial recognition.
