Coronavirus in the logistics
Fiege prepares exclusive logistics areas for emergencies
The logistics service provider Fiege is actively preparing a concept to ensure the flow of critical goods in Europe in the event of the spread of the coronavirus. This includes pharmaceutical and medical supplies, food and important production equipment for industry.
Various company locations throughout Germany and Europe are planned for the concept, such as the Apfelstädt location in Thuringia. "Our experts from the Healthcare division ensure that the highest possible standards are implemented to guarantee the supply of goods in the event of an emergency" says Dirk Berlemann, Managing Director of Fiege HealthCare Logistics.
The geographical distribution of the selected logistics centers provides an infrastructure to ensure the prompt delivery of critical goods. These warehouses are now to be retrofitted with special protective measures for employees and transportation. "We provide buffer capacities at short notice and are able to quickly integrate articles and product groups thanks to our processes and IT systems" says Martin Rademaker, member of the Fiege Executive Board. "Due to the current spread of the coronavirus, we have developed a concept for our customers that ensures the supply of important goods. We therefore offer our customers the opportunity to store emergency stocks at various locations in Europe in order to be able to access these stocks in the event of an emergency," Rademaker continues.
