282,000 orders per year
DB Schenker operates Porsche spare parts center in Canada
Porsche Cars Canada, Ltd. has entrusted DB Schenker Canada with the operation of the new spare parts center in Mississauga, Ontario.
Over the next three years, the global logistics service provider will complete the logistics concept together with the manufacturer. "The faster we can complete repairs and get our customers' vehicles back on the road, the better," explains George Fremis, Manager Parts Operations & Logistics, Porsche Cars Canada. "DB Schenker understands this philosophy and our brand. This makes the company an ideal fit for the operation of our new parts center."
The new site, which was opened after two years of planning, has a total area of over 16,000 square meters. Around 13,000 square meters of this will be operated by DB Schenker. The remaining space will be used as a national training center and test vehicle warehouse. This is the third spare parts center that DB Schenker has operated for Porsche - the two companies also work together in China and South Korea. Previously, the Canadian Porsche Centers received their spare parts and lifestyle accessories from one of three locations in the USA. Now the car manufacturer wants to shorten delivery times and at the same time offer a higher level of service in the growing Canadian market.
The first deliveries from the new spare parts center started in October 2019. According to Fremis, DB Schenker's comprehensive logistics expertise, many years of experience in the automotive industry and high level of service were decisive factors in the decision in favor of DB Schenker. "The solution that DB Schenker presented to us for our spare parts center was very comprehensive and convinced us the most," Fremis continues. "DB Schenker knew the quality of service we were aiming for and even brought the project manager responsible for implementation in South Korea on board to support the project."
DB Schenker manages the storage of spare parts for Porsche and takes care of inventory management, picking, packing and shipping to the final destination in Canada. In the first year of operation, around 282,000 orders will be processed via the new location. "It is very special for our team in Canada to be part of the growing global Porsche network. We see the operation of the parts warehouse as our important contribution to further improving the Porsche Driver Experience. Ultimately, we want to live up to our commitment to become the most trusted and valued partner in the supply chain for our customers," explains Brad Samson, Site Manager DB Schenker Canada
