Special land management and special foundation
A logistics park on a former landfill site
CTP, developer, owner and manager of industrial and logistics real estate, has won this year's Brownfield 24 Award in the Best Brownfield Project (Logistics) category with its first German new-build project.
The award-winning property, the CT-Park Bremen-Hemelingen, is located on the site of a former municipal landfill. Following intensive demolition and processing work, a business and logistics park with around 28,700 square meters of new logistics space is being built here.
The contaminated backfill material and soil protection posed a particular challenge. Right at the start of the project, it became clear that more than 20 percent of the material was contaminated with a mixture of household waste and minerals. A creative geotechnical concept consisting of soil management and special foundations had to be developed. The excavated material was applied to the areas to be backfilled after separating and separating non-recyclable contents. The site is considered a prime example of the successful revitalization of brownfield sites.
