Modern LED lighting paves the way to lower costs
A leading specialist for hydraulic systems was able to reduce its overall energy consumption by around ten percent - simply by modernizing its lighting to LED technology. Hydraulik Schwerin GmbH, part of the globally active Hydraulik Nord Group, did not have to make any investment. The company rented the new lighting from Deutsche Lichtmiete.
For more than 40 years, Hydraulik Schwerin GmbH has stood for outstanding expertise in valve block production and power unit construction. Thanks to its high level of vertical integration and innovative strength, the company is one of the leading suppliers in stationary hydraulics. Production takes place in a state-of-the-art production facility in Schwerin.
Following the conversion to LED technology, the production facility is not only perfectly lit down to the last corner, but also particularly efficient and cost-effective. Whereas in the past mercury vapor lamps were installed in the 4,000 square meter production area, highly efficient LED lights now ensure optimum working conditions. The energy savings are immense. Consumption has fallen by 64 percent from 470 kwh to 170 kwh per light.
Dieter Müller, Production Manager at Hydraulik Schwerin GmbH, explains the background to the conversion and shows how the highly efficient modernization measure was implemented together with Deutsche Lichtmiete.
Why did you opt for lighting in the rental model?
Planning security was a decisive argument for us. With Deutsche Lichtmiete's rental concept, we didn't have to make any investment, but pay a monthly rental rate. This includes maintenance and service. In this way, we benefit from guaranteed illuminance over the entire rental period of ten years. The purchase options available to us for comparison offered us guarantees of a maximum of five years.
How do you rate the result of the conversion?
The production halls are now ideally lit and offer our employees significantly better working conditions. At the same time, we have reduced our overall energy consumption by ten percent thanks to the efficient LED technology. This leads to significant financial savings despite monthly rental installments. And we not only save costs overall, but also time and personnel costs.
