AutoStore + SynQ software = order
Swisslog automates logistics for ttv
Technische Teile Vertrieb GmbH (ttv), Illertissen, optimizes its small parts handling and relies on Swisslog's know-how. Planning, simulation and implementation focus on an AutoStore system.
The Swiss intralogistics specialist is implementing an AutoStore system for Technische Teile Vertrieb GmbH (ttv), a specialist in sealing and plain bearing technology. ttv has been supplying leading companies in drive technology sectors such as agricultural and construction machinery, forestry technology, mechanical engineering, aerospace and automotive for over 30 years. The AutoStore installation will take place in a newly acquired building complex in Illertissen, Bavaria, and is scheduled to go live in July 2021 in conjunction with the Swisslog warehouse management software "SynQ".
"We are looking forward to our new logistics system," says Harald Nitzschke, CEO of ttv, "it fits in very well with our warehouse infrastructure and leaves plenty of scope for needs-based expansion." ttv made the investment decision in order to improve its material flows in the small parts area. "With AutoStore, we will be able to organize storage and picking much faster and in a more space-saving manner than with the previous purely manual handling from simple shelving racks," describes the Managing Director and adds confidently, "the efficiency of our intralogistics will increase significantly with the automated solution."
The ttv system will initially comprise 15,000 container storage locations and four AutoStore robots. Two conveyor ports are also planned for incoming goods and order picking. "The project is progressing quickly and smoothly," says ttv CEO Nitzschke. Swisslog is aiming to implement the entire AutoStore system, including the software, within eight months.
"Thanks to our wealth of experience in the design and installation of the compact storage system, combined with the high degree of standardization of our solutions, we can guarantee our customers fast and reliable order processing," emphasizes Jens Schmale, Senior Vice President of Swisslog AutoStore and Managing Director of Dortmund-based Swisslog GmbH, adding: "Proven standards and modular design allow us to implement the system easily while at the same time offering a high degree of customizability."
Swisslog uses the "AutoStore Director" from its SynQ suite at ttv. Equipped with all the necessary functions for controlling the storage system, it leads to operational efficiency that fully exploits the potential of the system. At the same time, the software offers a high level of user convenience: standardized, award-winning user interfaces make operation intuitive and practically error-free. Intelligent algorithms optimize system utilization and accuracy right through to just-in-time picking.
"An important part of our planning was the overall simulation of the AutoStore system tailored to ttv," Schmale adds, "assuming eight hours of operation per working day." Virtual test runs, taking into account various scenarios up to the maximum load, secure the investment for the Swisslog customer. Schmale concludes: "A key advantage of the AutoStore system in conjunction with our AutoStore Director is the option to add modern intralogistics technologies on request. For example, automated conveyor technology, automated guided vehicles or picking robots can be easily integrated."
