Chep is an international supplier of reusable pallets and containers. The Chep ZirConic foldable large load carrier was developed to meet the need for high-quality, reusable transport packaging (RTPs) that meets current supply chain requirements. The container is the result of a collaboration with Cabka, a provider of sustainable transport packaging. It is designed to represent a new generation of RTPs and is characterized by excellent operational performance and environmental friendliness.

The goal: to set a new industry standard

"As an industry leader, we are aware of our unique position that allows us to go beyond pure sustainability and make our business truly regenerative through product and market innovation," explains Daniel López, Product Management and Innovation Director at Chep Europe. "The ZirConic container is the first in a series of next-generation packaging solutions. Developed on the basis of customer experience, it is designed to set the new industry standard for bulk containers at the highest level of innovation and sustainability. Winning the Red Dot Award is a recognition of the value we can offer our customers through the exceptional co-design collaboration with our strategic partner Cabka."

The Chep ZirConic container is made from 97% post-consumer plastic and is fully recyclable at the end of its life. This focus on sustainability reduces waste and supports the circular economy model. Key features of the foldable large container include:

- Modular design for a longer service life: Facilitates repairs and component replacement, ensuring minimum downtime and maximum utilization.

- Supply chain optimization: Provides up to 15 percent more internal volume and 33 percent more load capacity (from 500 kg to 750 kg), enabling efficient use of storage space and means of transport.

- Improved foldability: Allows for space-saving storage and optimized truck utilization, reducing transport costs and carbon dioxide emissions. In addition, the shelf can be folded inside the container, which further optimizes the use of space and improves internal processes.

- Integrity of the contents: A secure snap closure and tamper-proof designs protect the goods from contamination.

- IoT integration: Each container is provided with a serial number for accurate tracking and has a special area for the integration of digital devices. This enables a wide range of insights into the supply chain and increased transparency, allowing customers to make informed decisions.

Ignacio Castellano Montoro, Vice President Pooling and System Integration at Cabka, adds: "Working with Chep on the development of Chep ZirConic has been a valuable experience. Winning the Red Dot Award underlines our successful partnership and confirms our commitment to developing innovative solutions for the circular economy."
