Geek+ Fleet operates Hessing Supervers factory
Geek+, provider of AMR technology, and Hessing Supervers, a specialist in fruit, vegetables and ready meals, have announced the commissioning of a fleet of 112 autonomous mobile robots at Hessing's Greenport Venlo, the 'factory of the future'.
The produce transportation solution is the largest of its kind in Europe. The M200 robots from Geek+ connect the individual processing areas and control the food processing workflow to move a variety of fresh fruit and vegetables through the washing, mixing and packing stations.
An AI control system features 3D obstacle sensors that detect potential obstacles that could obstruct the robots' path, as well as a fleet management system that controls hundreds of robots simultaneously to optimize movement efficiency and minimize traffic congestion.
Hans Hessing, Director Center of Excellence at Hessing, explained: "Hessing has always strived to use innovation to improve the bottom line for our customers. By automating our distribution center with Geek+'s Moving Solutions, we have done just that and created a factory of the future. We can now get even more healthy, high-quality food into supermarkets and onto people's tables faster than ever before."
Jan Jongbloets, Managing Director Northern Europe at Geek+ Europe, said: "This project with Hessing is a clear example of how robots can directly improve people's lives. The AMRs we have deployed at Hessing's distribution center improve the speed and efficiency with which fruit and vegetables can be processed and distributed. We are very proud of how our AMR solutions contribute to the quality and freshness of food and help to reduce food waste."
