Unitechnik implements intralogistics for Dehn's production supply

Dehn, the manufacturer of surge, lightning and occupational safety equipment, is expanding its production and logistics facilities at its Mühlhausen site. The two-storey building will be structurally and functionally seamlessly connected to the neighboring logistics center. Unitechnik Systems GmbH is responsible for the new warehouse areas with shuttle storage, order picking and AGV connection.

In 2014, the Dehn family business invested in a logistics center with integrated production at the Mühlhausen site, built by Wiehl-based general contractor Unitechnik, to ensure efficient dispatch processing. Due to the high demand, however, the production capacities are now reaching their limits. A new 10,000 m² building is therefore planned, which will expand the production area, provide space for the temporary storage of raw materials and semi-finished parts and connect seamlessly to the existing warehouse.

Successful collaboration with Unitechnik continues

"We have once again chosen Unitechnik as our long-standing partner for the newly created warehouse areas. Unitechnik understands the requirements of our intralogistics and, with its own warehouse management system, offers a solution that precisely maps our processes," says Christian Müller, Head of Logistics at Dehn. Unitechnik is implementing a new automated small parts warehouse (AKL) with shuttles for production supply.

Automated guided vehicles (AGVs) play a central role in the new building. They will be used to supply production and also transport goods between the logistics center and the production warehouse. The existing UniWare warehouse management system will also take over the management of the new warehouse areas as part of the expansion and will control the logistics processes in incoming goods, order picking and production.
