Volvo Trucks delivers first electric vehicle to DB Schenker

On February 19, Volvo Trucks handed over its first all-electric vehicles to customers. Deliveries included a waste disposal vehicle for the waste disposal and recycling company Renova and a delivery vehicle for the logistics provider DB Schenker.

The Volvo FL Electric vehicles are part of a pre-series developed in collaboration with selected customers. Series production of the Volvo FL Electric and its powerful brother Volvo FE Electric will start in the second half of 2019. Initially, a limited number of vehicles will be built for European markets.

The absence of engine noise and exhaust emissions improves working conditions for drivers and makes the urban environment quieter and cleaner. "Thanks to our close cooperation with drivers and customers, we have been able to develop electrified transportation solutions that meet high demands in terms of performance, range and vehicle usage in a very short time," says Volvo Trucks President Roger Alm.

As part of an operator training course, the drivers had the opportunity to test drive the electrically powered trucks before the vehicles were delivered. "The drivers were particularly impressed by how quickly and smoothly the drive accelerates and how quiet it is," Roger Alm summarizes the reactions. "We will continue to expand our electric range. At the same time, we are continuously working on reducing the environmental and climate impact of our diesel and gas-powered vehicles, focusing primarily on energy-efficient drives," says Roger Alm.
