Partial load network

ELVIS doubles hub capacities

ELVIS Teilladungssystem GmbH is doubling the capacity of its hub in Knüllwald. In the coming months, the company will be building another 10,000 square meter logistics hall on a neighboring 32,000 square meter site. This means that the central hub of the ELVIS part-load network near the A7 will have a hall area of more than 20,000 square meters in future. The expansion is necessary because the facility is expected to reach its maximum capacity of 56,000 parking spaces per month this year. Commissioning of the extension is planned for mid-2019.

"The part-load system has not only developed extremely well, we still see considerable potential here. We have therefore decided to invest further in this area," says Regina Kiesler, Director Operations at ELVIS Teilladungssystem GmbH. The network has grown by an average of twelve percent annually since it was founded in 2011. Today, the ELVIS central hub handles over 140 trucks, or 1,500 tons of part loads, every night. Over 100 national and 20 international partner depots are connected to the Part Load Network.

The concept of the part-load system is very simple: depot and hub transports are combined under a uniform IT and organizational structure. The principle of side loading and unloading also saves time and ensures the high quality of services in the ELVIS part load network. "The damage rate in our hub is currently a very manageable 0.4 percent. Of course, shippers appreciate this and it is certainly one of the reasons for the strong growth in turnover," says Kiesler.

In addition to the 10,000 square meter logistics hall, the construction project includes an administration building and associated meeting and seminar rooms as well as additional truck parking spaces, which are intended to alleviate the traffic situation around the hub. In addition, the number of workstations will be increased from the current 40 to an expected 60 to 70. Commissioning of the extension is planned for the middle of next year.

Until then, the administrative processes will also be optimized. To this end, ELVIS is currently developing its own new IT system together with software manufacturer Eikona. "We want to be fit for the future here too and work with fully digital processes," announces Kiesler.
