Daimler Truck increases Group sales in 2021
Daimler Truck was able to significantly increase its Group sales in the past financial year. At 455,000 units, around 20% more trucks and buses were sold worldwide in 2021 than in the same period of the previous year.
The company benefited from a recovery in its most important markets, particularly in the first half of 2021. While demand in the core markets remained strong in the second half of the year, supply bottlenecks slowed production and thus limited volume growth, particularly in heavy commercial vehicles in the USA and Europe.
Daimler Truck, which recently became independent, reports its sales figures for the industrial business in the Mercedes-Benz, Trucks North America (Freightliner, Western Star, Thomas Built Buses), Trucks Asia (FUSO, BharatBenz) and Buses (Mercedes-Benz Buses & Setra) segments as presented at the Capital Market Day (November 11, 2021). All segments achieved the defined volume targets, despite the deteriorating semiconductor situation towards the end of the year.
