100,000th DAF of the new CF and XF generation rolls off the production line
In the last week of August, the 100,000th vehicle of the new CF and XF generation rolled off the production line at DAF Trucks in Eindhoven. Never before in the company's history has the 100,000 mark for a vehicle generation been reached so quickly, writes the company. The 100,000th vehicle, a DAF XF 450 4x2 FT Super Space Cab, was ceremoniously handed over to the Gheys Group in Mol, Belgium.
The first vehicle of the current CF and XF generation went into production in July 2017. Since then, 100,000 units have been produced at DAF Trucks' factories in Eindhoven and at Leyland Trucks in the UK. "The fact that we have achieved this huge volume so quickly is testament to the quality and efficiency of this latest generation of vehicles," said Harry Wolters, CEO of DAF Trucks. "Our customers praise the reliability, low fuel consumption, low operating costs and, last but not least, the unsurpassed driving comfort of the latest generation of vehicles. No wonder DAF is the number 1 in tractor units in Europe."
Harry Wolters took the opportunity to personally hand over the 100,000th truck to the Belgian Gheys Group, which specializes in high-volume and container transport. "We have been working with DAF for a very long time," said co-owner Luc Gheys. "The first truck my father started with in the mid-60s was a former DAF coach that was converted into a removal truck. Following my father's tradition, we have now had the DAF brand in our fleet since 2015. We have had very good experiences with both the current vehicles and our DAF dealer. That's why we currently own 80 DAFs - and this year we will be adding another 25."
