Next Intralogistics GmbH brings flexibility to intralogistics

The start-up Next Intralogistics, a subsidiary of the GEBHARDT Intralogistics Group, was the first provider to present automatic conveyor technology solutions for renting, leasing or buying at LogiMAT. This means that short-term capacity expansions in the warehouse can be implemented within a few days and weeks without the need for large investments. Automatic conveyor systems can be put together in the online store with just a few clicks and rented or leased for a limited period of time - the newly founded Next Intralogistics GmbH from Sinsheim presented this innovative offer at LogiMAT 2017. Until now, companies that wanted to automate their intralogistics needed a lot of capital and even more patience. This is because it usually takes several weeks or even months from the investment decision to the suitable conveyor technology being configured, delivered, wired and programmed. And if requirements change during operation, conventional systems cannot simply be modified: Every conversion costs money and time.

The new offering is based on the FlexConveyor technology developed together with the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). The modular conveyor technology with intelligent, decentralized control works according to the plug & play principle: individual modules of different functions and sizes are simply connected together to form a conveyor system. By combining the different modules, any layout and system size can be created. Once connected to the power supply, the modules are immediately ready for use. This is made possible by the FlexBox integrated into each conveyor element. With the decentralized control algorithm of the FlexBox, the system can independently identify the topology of the system, plan transport routes and coordinate logic and transport sequences. The relevant system data is visualized on the FlexControl configurator for control and operation. This eliminates the time-consuming and cost-intensive planning and commissioning of conventional technology with PLC control, which requires complex installation and programming. Depending on their size, the systems are ready for use within one or two days. This makes the use of automatic conveyor technology simpler, more flexible and more cost-effective. Another advantage is that the conveyor technology is just as easy to convert and dismantle.
"The combination of innovative rental and leasing concepts with the highly flexible FlexConveyor technology enables our customers to achieve scalable growth while retaining financial leeway and entrepreneurial freedom," says founder and Managing Director Marco Gebhardt, explaining the new approach with which he wants to open the door to the automation of warehouse processes for a new target group. Because whether in e-commerce, logistics service providers, mail order or production - highly dynamic markets require correspondingly variable intralogistics. Fluctuations in capacity utilization, strong growth or varying returns rates in e-commerce require modifiable solutions.

At Next Intralogistics, commercial customers can simply rent conveyor modules and preconfigured intralogistics solutions, e.g. for picking, packing or sorting. The rental or leasing period is variable between three and a maximum of 36 months. The system can be converted or supplemented with additional conveyor technology modules at any time. In this way, the conveyor system grows successively in line with requirements and overcapacity can be avoided. As a tenant, customers only pay the monthly rent or leasing rate. Insurance, maintenance and service are included, which increases financial planning security. The customer also has the option of purchasing the technology at any time.
The company's web store is also a novelty: here, the required conveyor modules with different functions and dimensions, e.g. straight lines, curves or transfer units, can be selected simply by clicking and put together to form a system. To simplify the selection process and provide inspiration for planning, over 100 preconfigured best practice solutions from many areas of internal logistics are already stored online, which can be easily adapted to specific circumstances. Customers can then use the web store's shopping cart to calculate a fixed monthly rental fee based on the desired rental period. Installation, commissioning and shipping costs can be included in the rental or paid for separately. At the end of the rental period, a Next team will professionally dismantle the system and organize its return. Due to the reusability of the modules, the technology also scores highly in terms of sustainability compared to conventional conveyor systems. At the end of the rental period, all modules are cleaned, technically inspected and, if necessary, repaired before they are used again.
