Storage- and racking systems

Vanderlande installed at Gabor

Gabor Shoes AG and the general contractor Vanderlande signed a contract for the realization of a new automated small parts warehouse and various modifications to the existing system. Gabor produces 30,000 pairs of shoes per working day. Every year, nine million pairs of shoes are sold to more than 5,200 retailers. Back in 2004, Vanderlande supplied and installed the current sorting and distribution system and the connected automated high-bay warehouse (HBW) in Mindelheim in Bavaria. The high-bay warehouse has 17,000 pallet spaces spread over five aisles and functions primarily as a replenishment warehouse and also as a shipping unit warehouse. An additional automated small parts warehouse (AKL) is now being implemented in a new dispatch hall next to the existing hall and connected to the existing system during ongoing operations. Each of the twelve aisles of the mini-load warehouse will be equipped with a Quickstore 3.2 storage and retrieval machine and the double-deep Barracuda load handling device, both products from the extensive Vanderlande product portfolio. Installation of the new order picking system will begin in the third quarter of the current year, with commissioning planned for the beginning of 2017.
