Sheet metal bearing made fit again
Stopa has modernized Hobart's sheet metal warehouse. The focus was on replacing the control system, installing new drive motors for the storage and retrieval machine and implementing a modern warehouse management system. When retrofitting the sheet metal storage system supplied by Stopa Anlagenbau GmbH in 1992, Hobart GmbH,

market leader for commercial warewashing technology, primarily to increase system availability and productivity. One of the key points of the retrofit was the replacement of drive technology components. Stopa equipped the storage and retrieval machine with new motors and gearboxes as well as frequency converters and torque supports. In addition, the stacker crane now works with asynchronous servomotors instead of the previously used DC motors. As a result, the stacker crane positions faster and more accurately and is less susceptible to faults. Part of the retrofit was the conversion of the system control from Siemens S5 to Siemens S7 with Profibus connection, including Profibus-capable encoders. At the same time, Stopa replaced or restructured the control cabinets of the stations or combined the functions of several cabinets. The stacker crane also received a new traveling control cabinet and the system a new main control cabinet.
