Two-aisle AKL
Riegler expands warehouse with Klinkhammer
In order to adapt the intralogistics processes, the logistics center of the compressed air specialist Riegler in Bad Urach was expanded to include an automated small parts warehouse. Klinkhammer was awarded the contract.
It provides additional storage capacity and, in addition to optimized processes, enables growth in the existing space without the need for additional employees. A work platform for order picking, including a pallet transfer station in the warehouse pre-zone, ensures smooth processes in the areas of order picking and replenishment. All existing storage areas are connected to the automated small parts warehouse and the picking platform via conveyor technology.
To find a solution, Klinkhammer examined a wide range of alternatives such as lift storage, automated small parts storage and other small parts storage solutions. The comparison of variants looked at the advantages and disadvantages, investment costs, capacity and performance limits as well as the personnel and space requirements. The decision was made in favor of an automatic two-aisle small parts warehouse with picking platform.
One detail here is the flexible container division. If additional storage capacity is required, the storage containers can be subdivided several times. This makes it possible to store very small parts in a space-saving manner. Two lift storage units are also available for small C-parts. The warehouse extension includes a container conveyor system that connects the new automated small parts warehouse with all other storage areas. Replenishment to the shelf storage area also takes place via the container conveyor system from the automatic small parts warehouse, the manual pallet warehouse or directly from the goods receiving area. Posting to the target storage location in the shelf storage area is carried out using radio data terminals. Warehouse management is controlled via the Klinkhammer warehouse management system and the material flow computer. All load carriers can be localized on the conveyor system in the visualization software. The system is connected to the remote service and is centrally monitored and supported by Klinkhammer Service24.
