Everything back to square one
Hannover Messe: CeMAT becomes Logistics
Often postponed, now communicated: As part of the Hannover Messe, Deutsche Messe AG also announced how it envisions the future of CeMAT: integrated. This is how it sounds in the original press release (emphasis added by the editors):
"In times of digital transformation, Hannover Messe is also evolving. By making strategic adjustments to its brand management, theme setting and exhibition grounds layout, Hannover Messe is strengthening its position as the world's number one industrial trade fair from 2020 onwards.
"The global recognition of Hannover Messe is unique," says Dr. Jochen Köckler, Chairman and CEO of Deutsche Messe AG. "We will continue to strengthen the brand and therefore integrate and merge the previous sub-brands into the Hannover Messe umbrella brand. We are also creating room for growth with the new site allocation. Our clear goal: a strong Hannover Messe that continues to drive the industrial transformation and grow - both in terms of exhibitors and visitors."
The Hannover Messe Exhibitors' Advisory Board supports the further development. Prof. Dr. Friedhelm Loh, Chairman of the Exhibitors' Advisory Board:"The measures for the consistent further development of Hannover Messe are 100 percent supported by the members of the Exhibitors' Advisory Board. This means that Hannover Messe is and will remain the showcase for the innovative strength of Germany as an industrial location - even in the age of digital and industrial transformation."
In the course of Industry 4.0, the areas of production and logistics are also moving even closer together, which is why Hannover Messe is also taking the logical step of integrating the topics of the intralogistics trade fair CeMAT as a pillar and exhibition area under the umbrella brand - not least at the request of the industry.
In terms of content, the Hannover Messe will in future be divided into seven exhibition areas:
The Logistics exhibition area is organized every two years and includes conveyor and storage technology, warehouse and operating equipment, industrial trucks and accessories, driverless transport systems, packaging and logistics services (from 2020 in Halls 2, 3 and 4). In the future, however, logistics topics will also be included in the other exhibition areas every year - in particular logistics automation and digital logistics, which will expand the annual portfolio of the Hannover Messe to include this important topic.
In the Future Lab area (from 2020 in Halls 21 and 24), research and development, start-ups, emerging technologies, innovation culture and the future of work are on the agenda. Köckler: "We are creating a hotspot for innovation in the north-west of the exhibition grounds. Start-ups meet research institutes. Industrial companies meet young talents and lateral thinkers. The Future Lab provides an insight into the industry of the day after tomorrow," says Köckler.
The Automation, Motion & Drives exhibition area (from 2020 in Halls 2 to 13) covers topics such as factory, process and energy automation as well as drive and fluid technology, robotics, industrial sensor technology and image processing, power transmission, transformers, energy management, logistics automation and warehouse technology. Köckler: "Automation is the origin of the change towards a comprehensively networked industry. In future, it will occupy the entire east and south of the exhibition grounds, thus forming the framework for the industrial transformation and enabling optimal visitor guidance."
The Digital Ecosystems are moving to the center of the exhibition grounds (from 2020 in Halls 14 to 17). There, everything will revolve around digital networking and applications for industry with the topics of business software, PLM, MES, logistics IT, digital platforms and cloud solutions, IT security, augmented & virtual reality, energy management solutions, artificial intelligence and 5G infrastructure. Köckler: "Digital ecosystems are at the heart of the industrial transformation. They have an impact on all other areas of the trade fair and will therefore move to the center of the exhibition grounds from 2020."
The Energy Solutions area focuses on supplying industrial plants and connected mobility infrastructure, particularly with electrical energy. Specifically, it focuses on power generation, power transmission, power, heating and cooling supply as well as infrastructure for electric vehicles (from 2020 in Halls 11, 12, 13, 27).
Future topics such as lightweight construction and additive manufacturing, surface technology, material-specific components, joining technologies and engineering services will be presented at Hannover Messe in the Engineered Parts & Solutions exhibition area (from 2020 in Halls 19, 20, 22, 23).
The biennial Compressed Air & Vacuum exhibition area showcases innovative compressed air and vacuum technology for all industrial processes (from 2020 in Hall 26).
